What the file contains

The column order is not decoration. A quote reads left to right like an argument: which trade the work belongs to, what it is, in what unit it is counted, how much of it there is, at what rate, and what that amounts to. A column moved out of place breaks the reading for the client and for the checker alike.
The amount column carries a conditional formula: it stays blank while the quantity is, and computes as soon as you type. The total at the bottom sums the whole column, including rows you add if you insert them inside the range.
Frequently asked questions
Does the template handle VAT?
It works excluding tax, because the rate depends on the country and on the nature of the works. Add your tax lines under the total, or use this site's VAT calculator to check a base before writing it in.
Can I add rows without breaking the total?
Yes, as long as you insert inside the range rather than immediately above the total row. A spreadsheet extends the sum to rows inserted between the first and the last, never to rows added after the end.
And where do the quantities come from?
That is the column the template cannot fill for you. FloorScan pulls it from the PDF plan and exports it into a workbook of the same shape.
