The socket count of a dwelling is not a guess: it depends on the room type and its area, with minimums per room and dedicated circuits required in the kitchen and for appliances. That is what separates a proper installation from one that lives on extension leads.
The calculator applies those rules room by room, adds one extra socket per area band where required, then derives the minimum number of breakers per type. The result is a basis for discussion with the electrician, or a check on a quote you received.

What rules does the calculation follow?
On the usual minimums per room type in dwellings, in the spirit of French installation rules. These are design orders of magnitude: the applicable standard, its revisions and the final inspection are the electrician's and the inspection body's business.
Why a minimum number of breakers?
Because one circuit cannot serve an unlimited number of points. The calculation spreads sockets and lighting points across circuits under a per-breaker ceiling, and counts one circuit per dedicated appliance.
Can I start from the rooms of a plan?
On this page rooms are entered by hand. Inside the app the same calculator is pre-filled with the rooms detected on the plan and their real areas, which avoids retyping a whole dwelling.
