How floor plan redesign works
- 1
Upload your floor plan
Drop a PDF, PNG, JPG or WebP, or start from a project already saved in FloorScan. AI detection finds walls, partitions, doors, windows and rooms with their areas, and sets the scale.
- 2
Ask for layout options
Add an optional brief in plain words, such as “an open kitchen onto the living room” or “one more bedroom”. Claude, Anthropic's AI model, reads the detected walls and rooms and suggests 2 or 3 new layouts.
- 3
Apply and keep going
Compare each variant's preview, room list and habitable area. “Apply” changes the plan in one undoable step (Ctrl+Z), then you move on to quantity take-off, the 3D view and exports.
Why redesign your plan with FloorScan
Your plan, read for you
Walls, partitions, doors, windows and rooms are detected automatically, areas included. No redrawing before you start thinking about the layout.
Several options side by side
Every variant shows a preview image, the list of rooms after the change with their areas, and the resulting habitable area.
Your brief, in your own words
The brief is optional and written in everyday language: open up the kitchen, carve out a home office, add a bedroom. Without one, the AI suggests its own ideas.
Changes you can follow
A variant removes thin partitions to merge two rooms, splits a room in two or renames room types. Exterior and thick walls never move, and a warning flags any operation that could not be done.
Applied in one step, fully undoable
Rooms, areas and openings are recalculated. The new plan feeds straight into take-off, 3D and exports: PDF and Excel with Essential, DXF, DWG and IFC with Pro.
A render to share the idea
“Render” creates a clean architectural image of the variant, downloadable as PNG, without changing the plan. Handy to show an option to a client or a partner.

- Homeowners planning a renovation who want to see their home differently
- Buyers checking an apartment's potential before they make an offer
- Real estate agents showing what a property could become
- Architects and interior designers producing quick layout options
- Renovation contractors preparing a quote and developers testing unit layouts
Floor plan redesign FAQ
What can the AI change on my floor plan?
A variant can remove thin partitions between two rooms to merge them (an open kitchen, for example), split a room in two (a large bedroom into two bedrooms, or a home office carved out of a room) and rename room types. It never moves or removes exterior or thick walls.
Does the AI know which walls are load-bearing?
No. The module does not know the building's structure and cannot tell whether a wall is load-bearing. Each variant is a layout idea: every change must be checked by a professional (architect or structural engineer) before any works.
Which plans can I use?
A plan as PDF, PNG, JPG or WebP, or a project already saved in FloorScan. AI detection reads the plan and sets the scale, so areas are shown in square meters or square feet.
What happens when I apply a variant?
The plan is changed in a single step that Ctrl+Z undoes. Rooms, areas and openings are recalculated, and you continue in the FloorScan editor: quantity take-off, 3D view, PDF and Excel exports with Essential, DXF, DWG and IFC with Pro.
Is floor plan redesign included in my plan?
It is included in the Essential, Pro and Business plans, with a 14-day free trial. Each variant request and each render counts toward the monthly AI credits included in your plan. Free accounts see the offer before opening the module.
