Is the generated spec usable in a contract?
As a drafting basis yes, as is no. It gives you an article per genuinely quantified item, with its reference, which avoids a spec copied from another job. Reviewing it stays your responsibility, as for any contract document.
What about trades I do not manage?
They are deleted from the breakdown and vanish from the spec and the schedule at the same time. A job with no services package, for instance, runs on five trades instead of nine without hiding empty lines.
