Plan to DWG

Turn your floor plan into an AutoCAD DWG

PDF, image, scan or photo: upload your plan, FloorScan's AI detects walls, doors, windows and rooms, and you leave with a real .dwg file at true scale, on separate layers. No manual tracing, no AutoCAD licence needed to convert.

.dwg

A real AutoCAD file you download, not a wrapped image

Any format

Vector or raster PDF, PNG, JPG, scan, photo, one single input

5 layers

Concrete, partitions, doors, windows, footprint, separate and filterable

A DWG you edit, not a tracing you have to redo

Plan-to-DWG converters vectorise the drawing stroke by stroke: you open the file in AutoCAD and find thousands of meaningless segments, all on layer 0, to be re-sorted by hand before you can even start working. FloorScan works the other way round: its AI reads the plan and recognises the objects. Every load-bearing wall, partition, door, window and room becomes a CAD entity placed on its own layer as the file is written.

The file comes out in real metres ($INSUNITS=6): a 3 m partition measures 3 units in AutoCAD, and the plan drops into Revit, ArchiCAD or Civil 3D at the right size with no manual scaling. The .dwg downloads straight from the export menu, and the DXF, the IFC model, the Excel area schedule and the annotated PDF report all come from the same analysed plan, with no reprocessing.

What you get in AutoCAD

Universal input

Vector or scanned PDF, PNG, JPG, a photo of a paper plan: the AI works on pixels, it does not demand vectors.

A .dwg file delivered

The DWG is produced server-side from our native DXF: you download the file, there is no conversion left on your side.

Trade layers kept apart

Concrete, partitions, doors, windows and footprint each on their own layer: isolate, hide or recolour in one click.

Real-world scale

Auto-detected scale (dimensions, the 1:S ratio in the title block, door widths) and $INSUNITS=6: the plan measures right from the first open.

Fix it before exporting

The built-in editor lets you correct the detection: a missed wall is redrawn in seconds, before the DWG is generated.

DXF, IFC and Excel included

The same plan also yields the multi-layer DXF, an IFC model, an Excel area schedule and an annotated PDF report.

Plan to DWG FAQ

Is the file I get a real .dwg?

Yes. FloorScan first builds its native multi-layer DXF, then converts it server-side before handing it over: you download a .dwg file that AutoCAD opens directly. The DXF stays available in the same export menu if your software prefers it.

Do I need an AutoCAD licence to convert?

No. Everything happens in the browser, on FloorScan's side: you upload the plan, check the detection, download the DWG. AutoCAD, BricsCAD, ZWCAD or DraftSight are only needed to open the file afterwards.

Does a scanned plan or a photo work?

Yes. Unlike converters that require a vector PDF, FloorScan's AI analyses pixels: a scanned plan, a photo of a paper drawing, a PNG, a JPG or a raster PDF all go through. A sharp, well-framed document gives the best detection.
