Convert a sketch to DWG or DXF for AutoCAD
Stop tracing over a scaled image in AutoCAD. FloorScan turns the sketch into a vector file at real scale, organized by layers, that you can keep working on.
Convert my sketch to DWGDWG and DXF export included in the Essential subscription.
From sketch to CAD file
- 1
Import the sketch
A photo, scan or PDF of a hand-drawn floor plan seen from above.
- 2
Lock the real scale
One known dimension on the sketch sets real-world units: one meter on the plan is one meter in the file.
- 3
Check, then export
Review the geometry on screen, correct if needed, then download the DWG or DXF.
A file ready for CAD
Entities, not an image
Walls are polylines and openings are drawn objects you can select and edit like any other geometry.
Separate layers
Walls, openings, text and dimensions sit on distinct layers so you control display and plotting.
Real-world units
The drawing is 1:1 in the file: your dimensions and blocks fit without rescaling.
DWG or DXF, your choice
DWG opens in AutoCAD, DXF in most drafting tools (BricsCAD, DraftSight, LibreCAD, ArchiCAD, Revit import).
Useful for
- CAD drafters converting concept sketches
- Engineering firms bringing a field survey into AutoCAD
- Interior designers starting from a client sketch
- General contractors preparing working drawings
Questions about DWG and DXF export
How is this different from an image vectorizer?
An image vectorizer follows pixels and outputs thousands of tiny segments. Here the sketch is read as a floor plan: walls, openings and rooms become clean, scaled elements on their own layers.
What units is the file saved in?
The drawing uses real-world units, calibrated from the reference dimension on the sketch. Measuring in AutoCAD gives you the plan's lengths.
Is DWG export available in the free trial?
No. The sketch to architectural drawing module and its DWG and DXF exports are part of the Essential subscription, with no trial period. They unlock when you subscribe.
Can I fix the drawing before export?
Yes, the plan stays editable on screen: adjust a wall or an opening before generating the file, so you do not have to clean up the DWG afterwards.
Go from paper to AutoCAD without retracing
Import the sketch, set the scale and open a clean DWG in your software.
