Indicative calculation, run in your browser. No data is sent anywhere.
Tile quantity is not a plain division: the joint eats into the area, the waste depends on the layout, and tiles are sold in whole boxes. Diagonal or herringbone laying generates far more cuts than straight laying, which the waste rate reflects.
The calculator applies those three effects and rounds up to the next box. Adhesive and grout kilos are estimated from the format and the joint width, giving the complete order for one room or a whole dwelling.
You can also let the plan supply these figures for you.
Area calculationFrequently asked questions
What waste rate should I use?
Around 10 % for straight laying in a rectangular room, more as soon as the room is awkward, the format is large or the laying is diagonal. The value stays yours to set: you are the one who knows the room.
Should skirting be counted here?
No, this calculation is about an area. Skirting is counted in linear metres, from the room perimeter minus the door openings; it is one of the takeoff outputs when you start from a plan.
Are the adhesive kilos reliable?
It is an estimate tied to the format and the joint width, not your product's data sheet. A back-buttered adhesive or a large format uses more: adjust with the manufacturer's figures for a firm order.
