Is it actually free?

Magicplan offers a free tier that lets you survey and draw, with a limited project count and restricted exports. Professional formats, CAD outputs and team work go through the subscription. The real question is not price: Magicplan starts from an on-site survey, whereas most takeoffs start from a PDF you already received.

What is genuinely free

Surveying with a phone or tablet, with automatic assembly of rooms.

Where it stops

The exports that matter, clean PDF, DXF, spreadsheet, sit behind the subscription, and the free tier fills up after a few files. Above all, nothing in Magicplan reads an existing PDF to derive areas: you have to be on site with a laser measure.

Can you import a PDF into Magicplan to take it off?

The tool is built for on-site surveying, not for analyzing an existing document. A PDF you received is handled faster with a tool that reads it directly.

What works when you have the PDF but no site access?

Plan analysis software. FloorScan rebuilds rooms and areas from the document, which lets you price without ever travelling, including on a remote tender.
