Optionally add a brief in plain words, such as "an open kitchen onto the living room" or "one more bedroom". Claude, Anthropic's AI model, reads the detected walls and rooms and proposes 2 or 3 layout variants.

Compare, apply, keep going
Each variant shows a preview, the room list with areas and the habitable area. "Apply" changes the plan in one undoable step (Ctrl+Z), then you carry on in the editor: quantity take-off, 3D view, exports.
What apartment floor plan optimization actually does
Gain a bedroom
A variant can split a large room in two, for example one big bedroom into two bedrooms, and recalculates each room's area right away.
Open the kitchen to the living room
Thin partitions between two rooms can be removed to merge them. Exterior walls and thick walls are never moved or removed.
Make room for a home office
Carve a workspace out of an oversized room, then rename room types so the plan reads the way you would live in it.
Every square foot accounted for
Rooms, areas and habitable area are listed for each variant, with a warning when an operation could not be done. Metric or imperial units.
A renovation brief you can price
Once a variant is applied, the take-off gives wall and floor areas and partition lengths for a contractor quote. PDF and Excel exports with Essential, DXF, DWG and IFC with Pro.
An image worth sharing
"Render" creates a clean architectural image of the variant, downloadable as PNG, to show a contractor, a co-buyer or a client. It does not change the plan.

Apartment layout optimization: frequently asked questions
Does the AI know which walls are load-bearing?
No. It does not know whether a wall is load-bearing, and it knows nothing about building codes, condo or co-op rules, or plumbing constraints. It never touches exterior or thick walls, but every change must be checked by a professional (architect, structural engineer). In a shared building, some works also need the co-owners' or board's approval first.
What kind of plan do I need?

What exactly can a variant change?
Three things: remove a thin partition between two rooms to merge them, split a room in two, and rename a room's type. It never moves or removes exterior or thick walls. When an operation could not be done, the variant says so.
Can I undo a variant after applying it?
Yes. "Apply" changes the plan in a single step that Ctrl+Z reverts. Rooms, areas and openings are recalculated, and you keep working in the FloorScan editor as with any plan.
